Last week I had the chance to attend Gartner Symposium in Orlando, which is one of the world’s largest gatherings of CIOs and senior executives. The main premise of the event was around how IT organizations need to adapt and change in order to leverage the digital disruption of industries to their advantage.

There were quite a few strategic technologies mentioned at the event such as computing everywhere and software defined infrastructures. But what are the key challenges IT Teams need to overcome or initiatives they need to prioritize in order to leverage these trends? In order to answer these questions we had over a hundred IT leaders take a quick a survey at our infrastructure management solutions booth. Here are some insights and results from the survey.

Siloed IT tools and complexity hinder infrastructure and team performance

As infrastructure complexity continues to increase due to adoption of newer applications and technologies in the digital economy, this siloed approach to management will not cut it anymore. Having multiple non-integrated point tools slows down issue resolution, wastes IT staff cycles in finger points and inhibits the adoption of newer technologies.

Consolidation and improved utilization of existing infrastructure is critical to cloud and new application adoption

Before adopting more applications, internal and external infrastructure elements to meet the demands of digitalization, organizations need to tame the complexity of their existing infrastructure through consolidation of IT management tools and optimization of existing utilization.
